Dear Students,  Our upcoming fundraising event has been named the “Race for Life” based on the scripture found in Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” The Lord has used this scripture to minister to me personally throughout the time that I have been gifted with the opportunity to serve Him in this mission field. It’s a beautiful reminder of His grace and mercy. This verse reminds me that the race has been set before us by the One who created us and by the One who leads us and guides us through the course. Since He is the One who marked out my course, all I have to do is keep my eyes fixed on Him. Through trials and tribulations, my eyes are fixed on the eternal perspective and every circumstance that He allows me to go through is ultimately for His Glory. I am also blessed by this scriptures reference to, “a great cloud of witnesses.” These witnesses are the men and women of God whose faithful lives were recorded in the Old Testament. Each one faced with the moral injustices of their time, persevered despite unimaginable oppression and cruelty and were commended for their faithfulness. They all “ran the race marked out for them” by fixing their eyes on the One who is faithful. Elohim (Creator God)! My Creator! My Designer! My Maker! The Race for Life event proclaims His Glory as the Body of Christ unites to acknowledge the sanctity of human life and raise resources to help bring life to the innocent.
