Lights for Life Mass and Prayer Vigil

The 25th annual Lights for Life prayer vigil is almost here!   Prayers, testimonies, guest speakers and songs of praise highlight this peaceful event.  There will also be a special pro-life Mass right before the prayer vigil!  Please consider joining us, and inviting everyone you know, for this somber reminder of the over 55 million pre-born babies that have been legally aborted.

Nominations and Leadership Positions

It is important that our group has an Executive Team of the positions below.  This will help keep our group structured and organized.  Officers are the most dedicated and involved members of our pro-life group.  As a team, they will make major decisions for the group throughout the year.  Below are some sample descriptions of what the positions may entail, but of course are not limited to these duties.  Please read the following information carefully.

An e-mail will be sent out to active members of the nominees and their positions prior to the election meeting.

President - Is the voice of the group.  In addition to scheduling and running meetings, this person will be the main representative for meetings with administration, community members, and fellow students.
  • Provides vision and direction, short-term and long-term
  • Oversees all other officers and helps them carry out their duties
  • Delegates
  • Runs meetings
  • Knowledgeable about all aspects of the group
  • Public face of the organization
  • Ensures all tasks are completed - if someone drops the ball, the president's job is to pick up the slack
  • Meets new members and welcomes them
  • Motivates other members
  • Keeps the binder
Vice President
  • Assists the president in managing officers
  • Fills in for president when needed
  • Brings speakers to the group
  • Helps plan events
  • Meets every new attendee at meetings
  • Helps president develop ideas
  • Manage committees
Treasurer
  • Manage finances
  • Coordinates fundraising by organizing events
  • Tracks donors and writes thank you notes.
  • Develops budget and turns into Student activities
  • Solicits Student Activities' Funds
  • Pays bills
  • Keeps track of all banking information
Secretary
  • Keeps minutes of meetings
  • Contacts and encourages delinquent members
  • Send updates to SFLA
  • Backs up all picture files in multiple places
  • Keeps track of all login information for social media, email accounts, and websites
Public Relations 
  • Makes life and abortion a topic of discussion/debate in the community
  • Takes pictures/videos of events
  • Manages social media accounts
  • Handles media (news, newspaper, etc.)
  • Develops relationships with local, regional, and national organizations, along with president
  • Partners with other pro-life friendly groups, advertises to them and through them
Member Coordinator
  • Keeps track of every group member
  • Collects contact information
  • Sends out meeting reminders
  • Keeps attendance at meetings and events
  • Ensures that members participate
  • Recommends recruiting strategies
In addition to the officer positions, it is at the president's discretion to appoint student assistants or committees to coordinate specific events or activities.

Of course, the Action-Oriented Members are one of the most important parts of this group.  They will attend meetings, actively participate in group events, and will be putting the plans of the elected leaders into action!

Here is how the election process will take place:

Elections of officers will take place at an election meeting to be held once a year.
Any official member may be nominated for office and may nominate themselves.
Members who are running for office must be nominated and accept their nomination at the nomination meeting which shall occur a minimum of one week prior to the election meting.
Officers must be elected by a simple majority via secret ballot.  Only active members are eligible to vote.  Members must be present at the meeting to vote.
Elected officials will hold office for a one year term starting and ending on the last day of classes for the spring semester. (May 15th, 2018)

40 Days For Life 2017 KICK OFF RALLY


On September 24th, the 40 Days for Life: Las Vegas is having their Kick of Rally.

Speakers to include, Pastor Randy Greer, Senior Pastor of Trinity Life Center, Pam Caylor of First Choice Pregnancy Services, Kathleen Miller and More! Worship by the awesome Melancon Family!  There, you'll get more information, including flyers and posters for your church!

The Students for Life Las Vegas will be there as our first official meet up of the year!  Please join us, and remember to wear a pro-life t-shirt!

Year Start Up Announcements


Once again, fall is here!

That means school has begun, the weather is finally getting cooler, and...

Students for Life Las Vegas is getting back together to start off the school year!

There is so much coming up this year, even in just these next couple of months. 

Our year planning meeting is soon to be announced via email, which will be very important to attend!  We look forward to a great year!

40 Days for Life is having their 2017 Kick off Rally on September 24th, from 2:00-3:00pm.


The Women's Resource Medical Center of Nevada is having their
32nd Anniversary Race For Life 5k / 1 Mile Walk on October 28th, from 6:45-10:00am.




More information concerning both of these events is forthcoming, but please mark the dates on your calendars!  Our group will plan attending both as official meetings.

Tomorrow is the Big Day!!!


Congratulations everyone! We did it! We made first place in the contest by selling 19 shirts! Thank you to everyone who ordered shirts!! Don't forget to wear them tomorrow on National Pro-Life T-shirt Day, April 21st, 2017!!! Post your pics with #NPLTD17 #SFLLV  It’s that easy!  We can’t wait to see what the pro-life generation is doing!

We also have another volunteering opportunity coming up on Monday, April 24th 3:00-8:00pm and Tuesday, April 25th 3:00-8:00pm.  This time it will be in Henderson (520 Marks Street Henderson, NV 89014)

The March for Life is this Saturday!


Hello everyone!

This weekend is the big event!  First Choice Pregnancy Center's March for Life!  If you haven't already signed up for the march, please go to https://www.eventbrite.com/ and register for our team!  When you do, you'll receive an e-mail with a ticket to the event.  It's a free event, but it's a great way to keep track of everyone and you can enter that ticket into a raffle upon arrival at the event.

Once you register, you can begin collecting donations and sponsorships for First Choice for fun prizes and incentives.  When you raise $75, you qualify to receive your free t-shirt!  our group fundraising goal is $2000! Please help us reach that goal! 

If you are not able to attend or march please consider making a donation to our team at www.firstchoicefriendslv.org  We greatly appreciate any donation, big or small!!❤

Registration and collection of prizes (while supplies last) will begin at 7:30 a.m. The march will start at 9 a.m. and activities will end at 1 p.m.

Plan to join us for a day of celebration for the thousands of Babies' lives saved through the ministry of First Choice!  Festivities will include music, fun, family-oriented activities, carnival games, a baby parade (age newborn to 2 years), raffles, recognition, prizes, and much more!
